Shri Hariharan M.B.

Carnatic Classical Vocal Artiste

With over three decades of rigorous classical training, Hariharan M.B. is one of Bangalore's most respected Carnatic vocalists. Shaped by the tutelage of Vidwan S.N. Sreenivasa Prasanna, Ganakalanidhi Late Vidwan Salem P. Sundareshan, and Ganakalashree Vidwan H.S. Sudhindra, his music reflects deep rootedness in tradition.

A Mechanical Engineer and Post Graduate in Carnatic Music (M.Music) from the University of Madras, he brings rare analytical depth to his artistry.

First Rank holder in the Karnataka State Vidwath Examination and recipient of scholarships from the Karnataka Sangeetha Nruthya Academy and the Government of India, his academic and artistic credentials are equally distinguished. His artistry has been recognised through awards including Ananya Prathibhe (2002), Ananya Yuva Puraskar (2014), Nada Chintamani (2015), Yuva Purandara Award (2017), Gana Kala Vipanchee (2022), Nadajyothi Puraskara (2025) and Gaana Vaaridhi (2025).

As one half of the celebrated Bangalore Brothers, he carries an 'A' Grade from All India Radio and has performed across India's premier sabhas — consistently praised by The Hindu, Deccan Herald, and The New Indian Express.

As Vice Principal of Suswaralaya College of Music®, Hariharan has also made meaningful contributions to Carnatic musicology. He co-compiled and edited Ugabhoga Darpana — an extensive anthology of over 830 Ugabhogas of Karnataka's Haridasas. He has also actively contributed to Sulabhavallavo Mahadaananda, a curated collection of Haridasa Mundiges with text, notation and audio, Purandara Dasara Navarathna Malika, and the Directory of Karnatak Musicians (Karnataka) — serving on its core committee.
