Guru Dr Nirmala Sundararajan and Dr Subashini Parthasarathy
One of the most interesting facets of Hinduism in the Tamil speaking region of south India is the emphasis given to the worship of saints who dedicated their lives to either Lord Siva or Lord Vishnu. The most sacred literature of the Tamils consisted largely of the hymns composed by these saints who lived between the 6th and 10th centuries. The term azhvar means the one who is "immersed in" as they were immersed in Bhagavath anubavam all the time. The consolidation of all the pasurams of all the twelve Vaishnava Azhawars took place when Nathamuni collected their hymns to form the Nalayira Divya Prabandham.
In this module we have selected various prabandhams by the 12 Azhawars.
Note: These have be specially set to tune by Dr Nirmala Sundararajan
