Pancharathna Kritis - Group Workshop with Vidwan Shri T V Ramprasadh
The Pancharatna Kritis, a magnum opus composed by the revered Sadguru Shri Tyagaraja Swamy, are indeed one of the most celebrated and influential collections in Carnatic music. They are composed in praise of Shri Rama and rendered every year by thousands of musicians in his reverence at Sri Tyagaraja Swamy’s sanctum, Thiruvaiyaru, Thanjavur, Tamilnadu on the auspicious day of Bagula Panchami (day when he attained Samadhi) every year.
Outcome
The current paddhati/method of singing in Thiruvaiyaru, Thanjavur at Sadguru Shri Tyagaraja’s sannidhi was established by Sri Semmangudi Sreenivasa Iyer and was popularized by his disciple Shri P.S. Narayanaswamy.
The same paddhati/method of singing will be taught in these intensive sessions by Vidwan Shri T V Ramprasadh, senior disciple of Shri P.S. Narayanaswamy. The structured approach will help learners to delve deep into each kriti, to understand the unique features (splitting words, notational beauties, the bhava etc) with word to word meaning.
Note:
Post sessions, students can submit their recordings for review by Shri T V Ramprasadh for possible suggestions, corrections and feedback
Session recordings would be available to practice for a duration of 10 days
Students registered from India, get a unique opportunity to participate in a group rendition of Pancharatna kritis at Whitefield, Bengaluru on Sunday the 19th of January, 2025 to mark Sadguru Tyagaraja’s aradhana
