Dr. Sharanya Sriram

Dr. Sharanya Sriram represents the noveau and emerging generation of classical vocalists and performers, steeped in tradition with an increasing repertoire of krithis, supremely captivating voice that is a blend of resonance, range and a unique timbre that has won the hearts of both eminent personalities in the fraternity and rasikas alike.

She is a regular face at the world renowned annual December Music Festival, Chennai and at several leading venues like The Madras Music Academy, Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Brahma Gana Sabha, Karthik Fine Arts and Chennayil Tiruvaiyaru, to name a few.

She has appeared and performed in various regional TV channels and, with a penchant for the pen, Sharanya is a blogger on “Musical Musings”.

Having initially qualified as an Electronics and Communications engineer, she found her passionate, true north in classical arts that eventually led her to pursue an M.A., M.Phil & Ph.D. in Music with high distinction and stellar credentials. She has been an avid researcher and a prolific scholar specializing in the research of Ragas and has authored many widely cited scholarly articles.
