Workshop on Tyagaraja’s Ghana Raga Pancharatna kritis

The Pancharatna kritis, Sri Tyagaraja Swamy’s magnum opus, few of the greatest compositions in carnatic music are a set of five gems of kritis. They are all composed  in praise of Sri Rama. They are popularly sung by thousands of musicians in front of Sri Tyagaraja Swamy’s  sanctum, Thiruvaiyaru, Thanjavur, Tamilnadu on the auspicious day of his aradhana every year. They are set to Adi Tala and express a wide and varied range of profound religious emotions – blissful joy, anguish, mystic devotion, ecstasy, exhilaration, sorrow, etc. They elaborate and exhaustive in melodic and rhythmic invention. It is consummate in the exposition of raga swarupa and raga bhava .

Prerequisite: This workshop is meant  for students who have already learnt some varnams (at least 10) and  kritis (atleast about 20-25) so as to grasp, appreciate and aesthetically learn and enjoy the compositions
