Utsava Sampradaya Kritis

Guru Manasi Prasad

Kakarla Tyagabrahmam, commonly known as Tyāgarāja or Tyagayya, was one of the greatest composers of Carnatic music. Among his numerous compositions, the Utsava Sampradaya kriti, are till date sung regularly with utmost devotion and joy. These kritis are simple, inspiring, and spiritual, allowing even those with little or no musical training to join in the chorus. These songs help spread the joy not only of music but of serving and singing the praise of the Supreme Being

This well-structured workshop will serve as a gateway for learners to approach and sing each kriti with a deep understanding of the raga, one's own voice, diction, and their bhava or spiritual essence. Musically, these kritis, despite being simple, challenge us to focus on the nuances and strive for perfection, paving the way for students to enhance their singing abilities.
