Deepikaa Sreenivasan, a disciple of Dr. Nandyala Ramamurthy and Dr. Patri Satish Kumar, plays the Mridanga and recites Konnakkol, for which she has received central and state government scholarships and fellowships. She is a recipient of the Young Artistes’ grant and the Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. She has wide classical concert experience, with performances having taken her all over the country and abroad (UK and Europe). She has produced music for theatre and contemporary explorations apart from performing as a part of multiple percussive ensembles of international renown. She also works on a pioneering project, “Kannada Kavya Kamanabillu”, that explores Classical Kannada poetry from within a Classical musical framework. She has served as a mentor for British Council’s IN_UK Season of Culture programme. She was invited to give a special performance for the visiting world leaders at the G20 summit in Delhi. Additionally, she is a qualified software engineer and writer. She predominantly writes about classical music and allied artforms.”
